My baby is sick. I always knew the day would come when the air suspension failed. It only took 15 years. Off to the shop to have her front struts replaced. Keep the Phaeton in your thoughts, Oppo!

15 years is pretty good! How many miles?

Set fire to a pair of shoes as an offering to the gods. Here’s hoping for the best.

Did you find someone that will do the job for a less-than-astronomical price?

Here we see the Volkswagen Phaeton in it’s natural habitat ...
Sorry, that was mean, but I couldn't resist. Hopefully the next set will last you just as long.

Hi!
I figured it was time for my annual post.

Hey, Mike! I still exist, haha.

I’ve been quoted $2,900, which honestly is not as bad as I was expecting. Of course, this had to happen four months after I bought a house and dumped my life savings into the down-payment.

That's not bad. Not great, but not bad. It's cool you were able to find a dealer that would touch a Phaeton so quickly.

is it being replaced with OEM, or are your deleting the air suspension component?
I believe a prior post
I read
that the phaeton is a lower priority $$$ wise than home and family for you now, how far off from “I should just buy a cheap civic and park the luxo-barge for a few years” is the repair quote?

Oh, I didn't go with a VW dealer. Took her to an independent Bentley specialist.

Even after buying the house, I still have money stashed away to fix the Phaeton. And my partner is very supportive. He knows I love the car, and he also has an affinity for obscure, high-maintenance rides (he used to have a Fiat X1/9). I was quoted $2,900, and I can live with that.
